RESUMO

Os autores apresentam pesquisa prospectiva das alterações teciduais provocadas pelo uso de piercing na língua, realizada através de biópsia incisional e análise histológica das espécies. Foram selecionados 100 pacientes usuários de piercing na lingua, de ambos os sexos, com idades variando de 18 a 25 anos. Os resultados obtidos pelas biópsias demonstraram que 100 por cento dos pacientes apresentavam alterações teciduais na área de inserção do piercing. ABSTRACT

The authors present prospective study of tissue changes caused by the use of pierced tongue, conducted by incisional biopsy and histological analysis of the species. We selected 100 patients users of pierced tongue, of both sexes, with ages ranging from 18 to 25 years. The results obtained by biopsies showed that 100% of patients had tissue changes in the insertion of the piercing. DESCRIPTORS: piercing; inflammation; foreign body reaction; self mutilation.
