RESUMEN

El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de los procedimientos endodónticos mediante un recurso didáctico. Participaron del proyecto 25 alumnos regulares, del nivel de grado, durante el año lectivo 2006. Fueron implementadas dos prácticas endodónticas con dientes humanos unirradiculares extraídos, antes y después de haber cursado la materia. La condición de la primera experiencia fue realizar la endodoncia con los conocimientos adquiridos el año anterior. Al finalizar la cursada realizaron la misma experiencia, la condición fue realizar el mismo trabajo aplicando los conocimientos adquiridos. Luego fue realizada una evaluación docente sobre los resultados de la primera y segunda experiencia in vitro. Se diseñó un formulario para registrar la información obtenida de la observación radiográfica. Los errores procedimentales evaluados fueron: errores en la apertura, accidentes en la instrumentación, errores en la obturación del conducto radicular. La evaluación estadística fue realizada con la prueba t para muestras apareadas. En las condiciones de esta experiencia, el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de un grupo de alumnos de grado, relacionado a los procedimientos endodónticos en una práctica in vitro, fue considerado satisfactorio. En la cursada a nivel grupal hubo mejoras significativas, aunque a nivel individual algunos alumnos mejoraron y otros no; aunque en el promedio general de todos los alumnos si hubo una evolución favorable. SUMMARY

The aim of this study was to evaluate the teaching and learning processes of endodontic procedures using an instructional resource. Twenty five undergraduate students of the 2006 cohort accepted to participate in this study. One endodontic treatment on extracted human teeth was performed at the beginning and one al the end of the course. The students were prompted to perform the first root canal treatment using with the knowledge and skills acquired the year before. The other treatment was to be done with the knolewdges and skills acquired during the course. Both resulting treatments were evaluated by teachers. A form was design to register the information obtained in the radiographic evaluation. The detected mistakes were: access failure and errors during instrumentation and obturation of the root canal. The results were analized with Student's t paired test. Under the conditions of this study, the learning achievement related with in-vitro endodontic procedures performed by undergraduate students was considered satisfactory because significant improvment was detected in the after-course root canal treatments considered as a whole, despite the fact that some students had not evinced any improvement a certain n evolution was detected in the mean of the students tested.
