ABSTRACT | |
BRAK/CXCL 14 is a chemokine, which was first reported to be expressed in breast and kidney tissues but later was found in many other normal
cells and tissues but absent or expressed at very low levels in transformed cells and cancerous tissues including oral carcinoma, We previously reported that BRAK/CXCL
14 to have suppressive activity toward tumor progression of oral carcinoma in vivo. It is thought that there is an inverse relationship between tumor progression and
expression levels of BRAK/CXCL 14. Thus, in order to study the regulatory mechanisms of this gene, we determined the transcriptional start site and promoter sequence
of the gene. The transcriptional start site was found to be in the previously reported exon 1 region of the gene; and TATA-like sequence was essential for the transcription
of the gene. Also the AP-1 binding sequence was necessary for stimulating the expression of the gene.
Key words: BRAK / CXCL14 / Transcrption start site / Promoter / Enhancer. |
