Resumen

El odontólogo puede contraer en forma inadvertida infecciones bacterianas, micóticas o virales de los pacientes. A su vez, si éste ignora las normas de antisepsia, las propagará a otros pacientes, al personal de salud y a su grupo familiar. Se realiza una revisión sobre el control de infecciones en el consultorio odontológico mediante el uso de barreras físicas, químicas y se establece una guía de las medidas destinadas a proteger tanto a los pacientes como al equipo de salud. ABSTRACT

Bacterium, mycosis or viral infections can inadvertently be spread from patients to dentist. Moreover, if the professional ignores the norms of antiseptics, such infections will be more likely to be spread to other patients, health personnel and his own family members. A revision of the control of infection is made in the dentist's consulting-room by means of physical and chemical barriers. Finally, measures guidance is established so as to protect not only patients, but also the personnel of health. Key Words: biosecurity- dentistry- concept
