Resumen

El queratoquiste odontogénico (OKC por sus siglas en inglés) es un quiste que se desarrolla a partir de la lámina dental. Esta entidad patológica fue descripta por Philipsen en 1956 y se basa en la apariencia histológica de su cápsula. La característica distintiva de este quiste es la presencia de queratina en el interior de la cavidad quística y es bien conocido por su alto índice de recidivas, su agresividad local y su crecimiento expansivo en los maxilares. El objetivo de este trabajo es la presentación de un caso clínico de un paciente de 17 años que presentaba dos OKC bilaterales y simétricos (en espejo) en el maxilar inferior. ABSTRACT

An odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is a kind of cyst that arises from the dental lamina. This pathology was described by Philipsen in 1956, on the basis of the histological appearance of the capsule. A distinctive feature of this cyst is the presence of keratin inside the cystic cavity. It is also characterized by its high index of recidivism, local aggressiveness and expansive growth in the jawbone. The objective of this work is to present a clinical case of a 17 years old patient who had two bilateral and simetric OKCs in the lower Jaw. Key Words: Keratocyst and treatment.
