Resumen

El retratamiento de conductos y la cirugía apical constituyen diferentes opciones terapéuticas en aquellos casos en que el tratamiento de conductos inicial ha fracasado. El retratamiento apunta directamente a eliminar la infección del conducto. El objetivo de la cirugía apical es eliminar la infección del tercio apical cuando es inaccesible por vía del conducto o existen accidentes operatorios. En este trabajo se presentan dos casos clínicos en los cuales, por diferentes razones se optó por la cirugía apical inmediata. Palabras clave: Cirugía Apical - Retratamiento Fracasos Endodónticos.

Summary

Endodontic retreatment and apical surgery constitute different therapeutics options in those cases in which the initial endodontic treatment has failed. The non surgical retreatment points to eliminate directly the infection of the root canal. The aim of apical surgery is to eliminate the apical thirds infection when it is inaccessible by retreatment or procedurals errors exist. The purpose of this work is to present two clinical cases in which for different reasons immediate apical surgery was chosen. Key Words: Apical Surgery- Retreatment Endodontic failures.
