SUMMARY | |
The l9th century is called the century of biological revolution when the contemporary norm of biology was born. Human tissue classification
was also established by A. Kölliker in the middle of the l9th century. A. Költiker's concept of enamel, while being similar to today's concept, differs to some extent
leading to its pre-modern characteristic. The first edition (1852) of "Hand buch der Gewebelehre des Menschen" had no description on A. Kölliker classification of enamel
in the human body. In the second edition (1855) it was classified as simple organs but in the third (1858) omitted again. Consequently, it is assumed that A. Kölliker
failed in the end to classify enamel among any of the tissues, organs and systems.
