ABSTRACT
Foreign bodies entering the maxillary sinus have often been reported. However, it is very rare that they are naturally dislodged from the maxillary sinus. We report a case of a foreign body entering the maxillary sinus on extraction of an upper wisdom tooth. On the day after entrance of the foreign body, we attempted to remove it surgically, but could not locate the object in the maxillary sinus. On x-ray film, the foreign body was found in the stomach. The foreign body, was apparently dislodged from the maxillary hiatus and swallowed. In cooperation With a surgeon and internist, the foreign body was removed endoscopically and identified to be a dental cutting bar.
Key words: foreign body, maxillary sinus, natural excretion.
