RESUMEN
An anterior open occlusal relationship and diastemata may negatively interfere with the harmony of the smile, often requiring a multidisciplinary intervention. This clinical report presents an integrated orthodontic, periodontal, and restorative solution for an anterior open occlusal relationship associated with multiple diastemata and discusses the most relevant aspects related to its etiology and treatment planning. SUMMARY
This clinical report describes the application of direct composite resin restorations to close anterior diastemata after orthodontic and periodontal therapy. To plan the definitive restorations, the Golden Proportion was used for distribution of the spaces at the final phase of the orthodontic treatment. Additionally, gingival contouring was improved with gingivectomy. Direct composite resin restorations were used to close the remaining spaces between the teeth, since they are a more conservative therapy. An integrated orthodontic, periodontal, and restorative approach may enhance the esthetic results when orthodontic therapy alone is not feasible.
