RESUMEN

El propósito de este artículo es hacer una revisión de los reparos anatómicos normales que se presentan en la imagen de la radiografía panorámica. Esta técnica puede ser especialmente útil para realizar diagnóstico, permite visualizar fracturas, patologías de cabeza y cuello. La imagen en la radiografía panorámica comprende la visualización de la cavidad oral, los huesos y senos maxilares con el tercio medio facial. Esta técnica es sencilla y cómoda para el paciente además se puede realizar con el paciente sentado o parado. Se utiliza para estudio preliminar de exodoncias, tratamientos de ortodoncia, evaluación en dentición temporaria, desordenes temporomandibulares y para la valoración de patologías. SUMMARY

The purpose of this article is to made a review of the appearance of normal anatomy in the panoramic image, as a basis for distinguishing variations from normal when they appear in images of patients. This technique can be especially helpful in the imaging of mandibular fractures and pathologies of the head and neck, particularly of the oral cavity and mandible. Panoramic images can provide visualization of the oral cavity, jawbones, sinuses and midface. The panoramic imaging procedure is quick and easy for the patient and can be done with the patient sitting or standing, which makes it well adapted to the emergency room environment. A mainstay in dental imaging, panoramic images are used for extractions and fracture repair, the placement of braces, evaluation of mixed dentition and gross screening of oral disease, temporomandibular joint disorders, and head and neck pathologies.
