Resumo |

| Considera-se o ceratocisto odontogénico como derivacao da lamina dental, de
restos remanecentes dela ou de um cisto primordial de um dente normal ou supranumerário antes da formacao
dos tecidos calcificados. Os ceratocistos odontogénicos acometem a mandíbula em 70 a 80% e
representam cerca de 5 a 10 % de todos os cistos dos maxilares. O presente relato aprésenla um caso
de ceratocisto oontogenico na maxila e discute aspectos clinico, radiografico e histologico. Palavras-chave: Ceratocisto odontogenico; Dentes extranumerarios; Cistos odontogenicos. |

| The odontogenic keratocysts is thought to be derived from the dental lamina or its
remnants or from the primordium of a normal or supernumerary tooth before hard tissue formation. Odontogenic
keratocysts involve the mandible in 70-80% and account for only 5-10% of all jaw cysts. The present report
a case of a maxillary odontogenic keratocyst and discuss its clinical, radiographic and histopathologic
