| O objetivo da presente revisao de literatura é retratar a situaçáo da saúde bucal dos idosos na atualidade, primeira década dos anos 2000. Na
presente revisáo, o contexto saúde bucal foi relacionado nao só com aspectos fisiológicos da boca, mas sim com um complexo processo envolvendo saúde geral, cultura,
sociedade, valores e relaçao familiar, dentre outros. A busca por novos cuidados dirigidos aos idosos visa, acima de tudo, a reintegraçáo desta populaçao ao convívio
social, bem como adequada qualidade de vida, diretamente relacionada com a saúde bucal. O presente texto aborda aspectos do panorama da saúde bucal dos idosos brasileiros,

| The aim of the present review is to show aspects of the current elderly oral health situation in the first decade of the 2000 years. Oral health is
a concept not only related to the physiologic aspects of the mouth, but also to a complex process related to general health, cultural and social aspects, familiar relationships
and values, among others. The search for special care to the oral health of the elderly is aimed to permit social reintegration, as well to improve quality of life. The
present text builds some aspects of the profile of the Brazilian aged, pointing to the relationship between aging and mouth structures. Keywords: Oral health; Complains; Aged health; Aging. |
