Resumo

A reabsorcao radicular é um evento tanto fisiológico, envolvido na esfoliacao dos denles deciduos, como patológico, ao resultar de injuria traumática ou irritacao do ligamento periodontal e/ou tecido pulpar de denles permanentes. O componente celular ativo deste processo, representado pela interacáo entre células inflamatorias e outras chamadas de clastos, decorre dos inúmeros estímulos e sinalizacoes moleculares oriundos de citocinas, neuropeptídeos e produtos de degradacao liberados pelo tecido lesado. Este artigo tem como objetivo fazer urna revisao de literatura acerca das reabsorcoes radiculares, enfatizando seus eventos bioquímicos, celulares, sua classificacáo e fatores etiológicos. Abstract

Dental root resorption makes part of an event occurring both physiologically, when involved in the deciduous tooth exfoliation, and pathologically, when results from traumatic injury to or irritation of the periodontal attachment and/or pulp tissue of permanent teeth. The active cellular component of this process is represented by the interaction between inflammatory cells and others called as clasts. These cells act after several molecular stimuli and sinalization arising from cytokines, neuropeptides and degradation products liberated by the affected tissue. The purpose of this paper is to make a review about root resorptions, emphasizing their biochemical and cellular events, their classification, and etiologic factors. KEYWORDS: Root resorption.
