Resumen

El presente trabajo se realizó con la participación voluntaria de 200 estudiantes de la Carrera de Odontología - UNNE, de entre 17 y 25 años, provenientes de distintas provincias del nordeste argentino. Los Objetivos propuestos fueron: Evaluar las características clínicas de la mucosa bucal de los estudiantes fumadores; Determinar la relación que existe entre la salud de la mucosa bucal y el hábito de fumar en adolescentes jóvenes; y Conocer la información que poseen sobre la acción nociva del tabaco sobre la mucosa bucal. Se establecieron dos grupos: un grupo control (estudiantes fumadores) y un grupo testigo (estudiantes no fumadores). A cada uno de los participantes se le confeccionó la historia clínica, observando y registrando el estado de la mucosa bucal. Para recabar la información que poseían sobre las acciones nocivas del tabaco sobre la mucosa, se utilizó como herramienta la encuesta. El análisis de los datos fue estadístico de tipo descriptivo. Los resultados mostraron que los adolescentes fumadores presentan lesiones de carácter reversible en relación al consumo de tabaco, existiendo una marcada desinformación con respecto a las patologías que se presentan a nivel bucal por acción del hábito de fumar. Summary

The present work was made with the voluntary participation of 200 students of the Carreer of Odontology at the UNNE, in between 1 7 and 25 years old, coming from different provinces of the Argentinean north east. Objetives Proposed were: To evaluate clinical characteristics of the mouth mucous in smokers students; To determine the existent relationship between the mouth mucous and the smoking habit in young people; and To know the information they have about the harmful action of tobacco over the mouth mucous. Two groups were established: A control group (smokers students) and a witness group (non smokers students). A clinical record was made to each one of the participants, observing and registering the mouth mucous state. To obtain the information they have about harmful action of tobacco over the mouth mucous, the tool used was a survey. The analysis of the data was statistic and of descriptive kind. Results showed that young smokers present reversible character injuries related to the use of tobacco, existing an important disinformation regarding the pathologies at mouth level due to the habit of smoking.
