The 2006 Chiba Hospital Clinical Training Program Workshop was he prior to completion of the inaugural mandatory
clinical training program for dentists. The present paper reports some issues raised in the workshop and improvements discussed in a
meeting of the program directors of the Clinical Training Committee of the Chiba Hospital, Suidobashi Hospital, and Ichikawa General
Hospital following the workshop. Suggested improvements to the clinical training program for dentists after 2008 are as follows 1)
incorporate practical training using basic clinical practice rooms immediately after the start of the program, review lectures concerning
health insurance, and hold lectures and practical training on writing up of medical charts to reduce time 2) introduce practical
training in oral surgery and anesthetics and 3) lectures and practical training in the program should be reviewed by the program
directors of the three institutions every year. Details are decided by the Program Committee, and requests are submitted to the directors
of each department. (The Shikwa Gakuho, 108: 247-251. 2008)
